Visiting Mt. Vesuvius, excursion and tour:
 

  • by car:
    drive along the A3 Napoli - Salerno motorway to  Torre del Greco exit and continue following the sign for Mt. Vesuvius. You can see the permanent exhibition Creator Vesevo, church of the Holy Saviour, the old Vesuvius Observatory. Park at an altitude of 800 and use the shuttle buses going to the ticket office at an altitude of 1000 meters. (Roundtrip 2 Euro, parking 5 Euro).

     

  • from Pompei: (1)
    from Piazza Anfiteatro, by Eavbus line Pompei-Vesuvio (*);
    from Circumvesuviana station of Pompei "Villa dei Misteri" by BusVia del Vesuvio service.

  • from Ercolano: (3)
    from Circumvesuviana station of Ercolano-Scavi, by bus and share taxi.

    from Piazza Piedigrotta, by Eavbus line Napoli-Vesuvio (*);
    from Capodichino airport to central station (Piazza Garibaldi) by bus, carry on with Circumvesuviana train (**) to Ercolano-Scavi, or Pompei Scavi-Villa dei Misteri or Pompei (on foot to Piazza Anfiteatro) and then see point

  • from Sorrento:
    by Circumvesuviana train (**) to Ercolano-Scavi, or Pompei Scavi-Villa dei Misteri or Pompei (on foot to Piazza Anfiteatro) and then see point (1), (2) or (3).

  • Opening hours:

    January-February-November-December

    March-October:

  • Ticket price:

    For the visit to the crater an entrance fee is charged. The ticket includes guide service
    Ticket Price: € 10.00
    Discount price: € 8,00
    The entry is free for visitors less than 1,2 metres tall, with parents.
    This policy does not apply to children in groups.
    Discounted tickets are available for students supplied by a signed presentation letter from the school and travel agencies who book and purchase at least 300 tickets (€ 2,400). Prices are subject to change (see the official site).

     

  • Access to the crater:
    The access to the crater is allowed, upon buying a ticket, accompanied by the local volcanological guides. No booking is necessary for visits to the crater. The ticket office is open all year round including Sundays and public holidays except, for safety reasons, during adverse weather conditions. The path is not suitable for less able visitors. The crater presents inside a cavity over 300 metres deep, a circumference of the crateral rim about 500 metres long. Visitors should bring suitable equipment for the altitude. Recommended: sunglasses, binoculars, camera.
