It
was the first twin-seat plant with moving chairs in Italy. "Von Roll"
was the system adopted. There were nine bolted steel pylons, the last of which
was quadruple.

The new Vesuvius chair lift
The chair lift path was 730 meter long, and overcame a difference of level of
about 400 meter, with an average gradient of 55 %, from an altitude of 753
meter, corresponding to the funicular lower Station, of which followed roughly
the route, to an altitude of 1160 meter, the top of the crater. The chairs were
able to run every 30 seconds, giving a capacity of 240 passengers in an hour and
takes five minutes with a speed of 1,5 m/s. The chairs kept themselves until 4
meter from the ground.
